Kapha’s elemental makeup consists of water and earth . According to ayurveda, this is the dosha responsible for the stability, lubrication, substance, and support of our physical body.

Kapha types enjoy a regular appetite with a relatively slow-burning digestion. They are naturally deep sleepers. Akin to mother earth. Kapha  types are patient, grounded, caring, stable and supportive of family and loved ones.

In terms of metabolic function, Kapha’s gain weight easily. Foods that are great for balancing of kapha in general are pungent, bitter, and astringent in taste

Kapha is most agitated in the late fall and winter months, making these food guidelines most vital during this time of year.

Food should be fresh, well-cooked, tasty, pleasing, and satisfying. Take your meals regularly, at the proper time – morning, noon, and evening.

The golden rule of eating for Kapha types is: “Eat less than you feel hungry”.

Kaphas should focus on eating more of the Pungent, Astringent, and Bitter tastes, ie: leafy greens, lentils, dried beans, pomegranates, potatoes, apples, and all digestive herbs and spices are good choices for you

    FRUITSkapha diet Apricot, Apple, pears, figs papayas, berries, Guavas, pomegranate. Grapes, emon lime, strawberries.  Kapha people should try to have mostly astringent fruits. fruits which are very sweet in nature should be avoided. Melons bananas, Orange,pineapple,plums, watermelon, mangoes should also be avoided.
  PULSES  KAPHA DIET    mung beans, red lentils, non-GMO soybeans (tofu and soy milk), split peas aduki beans, black gram, black beans, fava beans, kidney beans, lima beans, pinto beans       Avoid tofu (soybeans), black gram,  black lentils, chickpeas
  DAIRYKAPHA DIET goat milk , skim milk or simple milk can be taken but it’s better to take milk little bit warm and it’s better to add spices such as ginger clove or cardamom in i buttermilk, cheese, sour cream, yoghurt, Kefir should be minimized or completely avoided
    VEGETABLEKAPHA DIET onions, cabbage, cauliflower, all green leafy vegetables, carrots, spinach peas, green beans and radish should be included in regular diet cucumber,sweet potatoes, potato’s, beets, are to be avoided
    SPICESKAPHA DIET spices such as fennel, Basil anise, fenugreek, garlic, ginger, mint Rosemary, turmeric and mustard should  be used in one’s diet   Avoid salt
    SWEETNERKAPHA DIET   Honey, old jaggery   Avoid fructose maple syrup molasses white and brown sugar and try to avoid all the products contains artificial sweeteners  
NUTS AND SEEDSKAPHA DIET Sunflower and pumpking seeds Avoid all kinds of nuts
OILSKAPHA DIET oils such as corn oil, flaxseed oil, mustard oil, sunflower oil are good to use. It’s better to avoid butter but the clarified butter can be used on regular basis you must minimize or completely avoid the use of oils such as almond oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, olive oil, Sesame oil.
GRAINSKAPHA DIET Old grains (minimum one year), barley, millet, corn, buckwheat, rye, oats, wheat, rice, muesli, dry oats, crackers. Avoid new grains, especially wheat and rice. Pasta , cooked oats, pan cakes.
  • Avoid eating too much at a time i.e avoid eating large quantity of food In a single meal.
  • Also avoid lime, lime pickle, soya sauce and vinegar.
  • DO regular exercise, a little each day.
  • Favor warm temperatures.
  • Eat plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, and legumes.
  • pungent, bitter, astringent tastes and light, dry, and warm foods Are good
  • Reduce heavy, oily, cold foods and sweet, sour, and salty tastes.
  • Stay warm in cold, damp weather.
  • early to bed, early to rise..
